Students are expected to:
¥ Participate in the course at all times.
¥ Create a personal blog site and subscribe to the class blog site.
¥ Set up a photo sharing account and upload 5 images while indicating the copyright status. Share the images on your blog.
¥ Shoot, capture, edit, compress and publish 4 video blog entries onto that site with roughly 1 min each. Add as much description as necessary.
¥ Cross-post them onto fhv2011.blogspot.com and again, add as much description as necessary,
¥ Show your ability to locate social media communities. Place at least a number of 5 links of your interest in your sidebar (blogroll).
¥ Familiarize yourself with the blogging template. Play with design elements and install what fits most to your needs. Implement a subscription feed through Feedburner.
¥ Comment on each other’s posts (at least 5 comments). Find and revisit your favorite video blog/online video entries. Try to analyze why they succeed/fail in telling their story.
¥ Set up a delicious account with at least 5 links related to this class and tag them with fhv2011 so everybody else can find them. Also: Learn how to subscribe to an rss-feed for a particular tag.
¥ Set up a social networking account if you don’t have one yet. Aim to reflect critically on its potential and understand its chances for your professional purposes as well as an educational setting in a blog entry.
¥ Sign up for Second Life or any comparable virtual world (3D-environment); this could also be an online game community based application; download the client program, and learn about its possibilities for a designer as well as for far distance learning. Report on your experiences in a blog entry.
¥ Participate in a collaborative wiki - http://123.writeboard.com/j7ok0ydn1imr5ucl - that reflects social media and the possibilities of Web 2.0. Contribute to the topics by adding to the responses and revisit them till you feel they were nicely catered to. Experience the difference between a wiki and a blog.
¥ Make 4 additional blog entries (with 1-2 paragraphs each) describing your course experiences or reflections towards the core topics. Think of them as a tool to further develop your practice and the possibilities of internet technologies for media design. Entry #1: your background, expectations and interests. Entry #2-3: your choice. Entry #4: a reflection in which way you can benefit from online media and social media technology. -
Most of the assignments are part of the class which is designed as a workshop. Final due date for unfinished assignments: 14 days after the end of the course: Apr 1
